Freeze Treatment for Moths & Bed Bugs | Collection Service
Freeze Treatment for Moths & Bed Bugs (Door‑to‑Door Collection)
Chemical-free pest treatment for valuable, bulky items.
We help private clients, auction houses, local authorities, galleries, and museums eradicate carpet/clothes moths (Tineola bisselliella, Tinea pellionella) and bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) using deep‑freeze treatment, either on-site with a rental freezer or off-site at our warehouse.
Two service options:
A. Off-site: We collect, freeze, and return items door-to-door. This is our most popular option.
- Fixed price (Dublin): €1,500 — includes transport
B. On-site: We deliver a large rental deep freezer to your property.
- Treatment window: held at −25 °C for 7 days to target all life stages (eggs, larvae/nymphs, adults).
What we treat
- Textiles & soft furnishings: carpets, rugs, tapestries, curtains, blankets, costumes, fashion archives
- Upholstered furniture: sofas, armchairs, ottomans, headboards
- Collections & mixed lots: estate consignments, gallery stock, museum quarantine items, auction lots
- Conservation-friendly IPM: freezing is residue-free and widely used by heritage institutions.
How it works
Option A — Collect → Treat → Return
If you don’t have space for a large commercial freezer at your property, our team can collect your items, freeze-treat them, and return them.
- Collection: we collect directly from homes, galleries, museums and auction rooms.
- Freeze treatment: items are stored at −25 °C for 7 days in our secure facility.
- Return: we deliver back to you, ready to reinstall.
Option B — On-site rental freezer
If you prefer to freeze treat the items at your property, we can build a temporary walk-in freezer inside or out.
- Deliver & position: We place a professional deep‑freeze unit at your address, a large walk-in room measuring 4 metres long by 2 metres wide. Plugging in to a 13amp domestic power socket.
- Load & secure: Items are loaded, and the unit is locked for security.
- Treat: Unit maintains −25 °C for 7 days.
- Sign‑off: We unlock and remove the freezer when treatment is complete.

FAQs
Does freezing kill eggs as well as adults?
Yes. Maintaining −25°C for 7 days is highly effective against eggs, larvae/nymphs and adults for moths and bed bugs.
Will freezing damage my items?
Most textiles and upholstered furniture can withstand freezing temperatures well. We manage packing and slow re-acclimatisation to prevent condensation and thermal stress.
Can items stay on my premises?
Yes—choose the on-site rental freezer option so items never leave your property.
How big/awkward can items be?
We regularly handle oversized rugs, large sofas and mixed collections. We’ll plan capacity and handling around your pieces.
